Cheeburger Cheeburger is Coming To Canada!

May 11, 2011
By

Some of you might remember a wistful post I wrote about love and cheeseburgers and how sometimes the fondest memory is nestled between two buns. Sesame seeded, naturally.

Ever since that time in Nebraska, I’ve been chasing the dragon, i.e, searching for the perfect cheeseburger! I’ve had some good ones since that time, but as far as my memory is concerned, none as good as a Cheeburger cheeseburger.

Now if you read the title of this post, you’ll see that something simply amazing is afoot. Yes, a Cheeburger Cheeburger franchise is coming to Canada, which is pretty vague in itself because Canada is a big country.

But it gets better. In fact, Cheeburger Cheeburger Montreal will be opening in a little over 2 months. Yes, our little island will be the first city in Canada to get a Cheeburger Cheeburger as their very own. Interestingly, Five Guys (Burgers and Fries) is also making a name for themselves in Montreal adding to the ongoing, but delicious, Burger Wars.

Here’s the proof from cheeburger.ca. I don’t think the folks at Cheeburger Cheeburger will mind that I lifted this from their website:

CWD Enterprises, Inc, is now opening the first Canadian Cheeburger Cheeburger restaurant in beautiful Montreal, Canada! The count down is on, so come back soon to find out when you can taste the best burgers ever!

God I can’t wait. Stay tuned for a mid-summer Cheeburger Review when we’ll find out if it’s as good as my taste buds remember!

Cheeburger Cheeburger Montreal will be opening soon at:

Les Cours Mont Royal
1444 Metcalfe.
Montreal, Quebec
H3A 1P3

I am really excited about this development! I can only hope they live up to your highest expectations! Great news!

  • http://www.stubbornfool.com Shawn

Where the hell are they opening? What’s the address? The site doesn’t say. Tell me! None of the links on the website works. I sent seven emails to the webmaster but he hasn’t responded yet.
I know it’s two months away but I am hungry now.

I’m the only person I know that eats the odd burger (about two or three a year) and it has to be McDonald’s, though their standards have dropped a lot here in recent years.

Glad you’re getting this new burger joint. We don’t have them in our part of the country, so I’ve not heard of them, but apparently they’re big. I hope they’re as good as you remember.

  • http://zivainferno.blogspot.com Ziva

Congratulations on the Cheeburger! I’m glad they’re not coming to Finland.

  • Cheryl

Wow, a burger joint I hadn’t heard of!!! I thought I knew them all. Surely, Kansas City will get one as this is where all burger franchises come to hang out together. It is an unwritten law here there has to be at least one burger franchise on every city block.

I am curious about the Nebraska reference. As an ex-Nebraskan, has anything ever happened there of interest? (that didn’t come out quite like I meant it)

We like to eat at our local Cheeburger Cheeburger. I just can’t be at the table when my son eats the “pounder” – I get too freaked out by the amount of food! My favorite is to order “frings!”

  • http://www.weworkforcheese.com Mike

This is big news. It’s going to overshadow William and Kate’s summer visit.

  • http://www.weworkforcheese.com Mike

I think it’s going to be in the Cours Mont Royal somewhere. I’ll go scope it out.

  • http://www.weworkforcheese.com Mike

McDonalds is usually on my “banned” list, but once in awhile I have to give in to an unstoppable craving for it.

  • http://www.weworkforcheese.com Mike

I hope so. A lot will depend on where they get the meat from, because midwest beef is REALLY good. Much better than what we normally get here.

  • http://www.weworkforcheese.com Mike

If you ever come visit, we promise not to take you there. How’s fondue sound?

  • http://zivainferno.blogspot.com Ziva

I really, really hope you’re talking about chocolate fondue.

  • http://www.weworkforcheese.com Mike

But of course! What other kind of fondue would I be talking about? ;)

I just checked their website and there’s one in Topeka, which isn’t too far from Kansas City. You can make a day trip out of it!

There’s a link in the first paragraph that links to my original post, which sort of tells the tale.

  • http://www.weworkforcheese.com Mike

Oh I forgot about their Frings! Now you’ve caused my excitement meter to ramp up a notch. Damn…still over 60 days away.

The Pounder is so not for me. I just want their regular awesome classic.

  • http://thegoodthebadtheworse.blogspot.com Linda Medrano

    William and Kate Who?

  • Cheryl

I see that link now. I just cruised right on by. I probably will make it back to Omaha sooner than Topeka. I’ll have to try the perfect burger.

Oh sure, I had to go to Montreal for the perfect smoked meat. Now you guys are gonna make me come back for the best ever cheeseburger? Lord help us if sovereignty catches on again!

  • http://www.stubbornfool.com Shawn

Cours Mont Royal isn’t convenient for me. Please have them move it closer to my home or work address.

  • http://www.weworkforcheese.com Mike

Trust me, this is cheeseburger tastes great in any political climate.

  • http://www.weworkforcheese.com Mike

The cheesy royal couple! But you we’re kidding, right? I can never tell with you.

  • http://thegoodthebadtheworse.blogspot.com Linda Medrano

    I was teasing you sweetheart.

  • http://www.weworkforcheese.com Mike

     oh you.

  • http://www.IamLittleJohnny.com Iamlittlejohnny

Man, did you set me up for a sick joke in your opening paragraph!   ”and how sometimes the fondest memory is nestled between two buns.”  Thi is a priest fantasy all the way….sorry for the sick joke but, then again, that’s my reputation

  • http://www.absolutelynarcissism.com Sandra

Why am I not surprised that Montreal is getting it first. Better yet, why did I move to Winnipeg, when I could have moved to Montreal?
I certainly hope you get compensated for this post! You did a great job of making me crave beef!

  • http://injaynesworld.blogspot.com/ Jayne

Free health care AND Cheeburger Cheeburger?   Damn you Canadians!

  • http://www.weworkforcheese.com Mike

We’ve got it all! Including taxes up the wazoo.

That’s weird. I don’t think I’ve ever said “wazoo” before. Even in writing.

  • http://www.weworkforcheese.com Mike

Just you wait. Wait until it it opens and we post pics of the glorious things!

  • http://www.weworkforcheese.com Mike

Not to worry Johnny, there are plenty more euphemisms where that came from!

  • http://injaynesworld.blogspot.com/ Jayne

“Wazoo” is one of my favorite terms.  And it takes a lot of money to run a first rate country.  Soon you’ll be seeing the U.S. in the “marked-down” bin.

  • http://mommamiameaculpa.com meleahrebeccah

Oh hell yes. We have a Cheeburger Cheeburger right down the street from my house. It rules. You’re going to LOVE it!

  • http://www.weworkforcheese.com Mike

Oh I already do, I just can’t wait to try it again! Plus, my office is only 2 blocks away from it, which is a mega-bonus!

  • http://mommamiameaculpa.com meleahrebeccah

    Sweeeeet!

Grand opening is August 2, 2011.  Thanks for your patience.

Mike, does having a Seinfeldian outlook mean you wear shirts that are half cotton, half silk and half rayon? (That’s one of my favorites!) This is the very first triple decker grilled cheese sandwich I’ve ever seen — gotta be good! Oh, there was a comment below about Kraft singles — you MUST read my cheese singles story in my broccoli salad post!

  • http://www.weworkforcheese.com Mike

Thanks Jean, I’ll check out that story! If it has to do with cheese, I’m interested. And my Seinfeldian outlook only goes as far as observation, and not the clothes!
