Mike -What you can’t describe with words, you can feel with music. Or something like that.

Nicky – I think everyone knows by now that I love shoes. To me, they are not functional items to protect my feet. They are works of art that transform the ugliest part of a person’s body into something beautiful. My collection of shoes gives me great pleasure.

My mom brought me back a pair of gorgeous shoes from her last trip to Greece. I haven’t worn them yet. I’m waiting for Jepeto to take me someplace where they would be appropriate. I never really figured out where that appropriate place could be, until just recently.

Thanks to my darling Linda, it has occurred to me that the perfect place to wear these would be on the streets of Buenos Aires, dancing the tango.

That would be a pleasure, indeed.

  • Mike, that shot speaks volumes.

Nicky, the shoes, the rose, your mother, the tango: the pleasure is never-ending.

  • Nicky, I can see you dancing the tango in those shoes!!!! Beautiful shoes….

Mike, are you going along on the trip to Buenos Aires?  That would be a fun place to play your guitar.

  • Mike- NICE! What kind of guitar is that?

Nicky – you have the best shoes ever. I still can’t get over the Skull heels you wore when we went out dancing! xoxo

  • Mike – I agree and think that music can soothe away our troubles.
Nicky – Love the shoes – they would be great with a highly slit black skirt. The last pair of shoes my mother gave me was a pair that she fell out of and broke her foot. I think they are death traps.

  • Mike, wonderful photo!  I would love to listen to you play!

Darling Nicky, those shoes are perfect for Buenos Aries and dancing the tango in the streets,  Of course, you should come with us.  September, right?  I adore this picture!

  • Mike, isn’t that the truth.. I think I have a vague memory of you playing the violin, too? It really is wonderful to just forget the world for a minute and feel the music.

Nicky, those shoes are perfect, and so is the photo! Absolutely stunning. The only way those shoes could look any better would be with you wearing them. And perhaps holding the rose between your teeth…….

  • Both are great shots. Makes me want to dust off my guitar and tune it, then write a bluesy song about elegant shoes.

Nicky: Do you know A Little Bit of Sole?

Nicky, these are very nice shoes, the photo is beautifully staged and the post that accompanies them is sweet and wistful. But I’m getting a little frustrated looking at your collection of stiletto heels without your feet in them.

It’s not that I have a foot fetish. I’m not thinking, “Oh, I’d like to pull those little toesies in my mouth.”

    Really, I’m not.

Well, now I am a little, but I wasn’t until I attempted to reassure you that this has nothing to do with fulfilling some kind of wild sexual fantasy.

It’s just that these empty shoes and the way you write about how they make you feel remind me of this girl I knew in high school, Jan. She was flirty and cute, and once, she even let me chew the gum that she’d been chewing. But everytime I leaned in for a kiss, she turned away, and my lips landed on her cheek.

To this day, I can sense what I never experienced. And it just doesn’t seem fair.

Mike, guitars are awesome. Maybe someday I can play rhythm while you play lead. Boom, boom, boom, my friend.

  • Mike – Music makes pictures and often tells stories (John Denver)

Nicky- Great shoes for you to dance the night away in.  I’d be on crutches. 😉

  •  Ok, this is the best one yet! Except you’d probably need a whole separate bus for Nicky’s shoes. She takes them all with her wherever she goes. You know, just in case.

  • No guitar should be left untouched. They enjoy being played as much as one should enjoy playing them. Dusty guitar? Unheard of in my house 🙂

  • I still practice the violin on occasion, but I’m horrendous. It’s fun though. I can zone out instantly when I practice.

  • Music to me is the easiest form of meditation/relaxation. It’s the heavy metal though that really gets rid of the stress 🙂

  •  It’s a Fender telecaster, Japanese model from 1982 or something. It is awesomeness 🙂

  •  I’m into it, Mike. Rock on!  * devil sign *

  • You are so right.  If I understand anything, I understand her love of shoes, soooo here is a custom trailer to pull behind the bus just for her shoes.

  •  It would be my pleasure, Linda.

  • Oh my. Ok. Remember that I’m new around here… ok?  but, I thought you were a guy. I’m so sorry. Now I’m going back to re-read all of our posts. So I can re-introduce myself to you. Can you forgive me?

btw… I love both of the photos.

  • What? My avatar with it’s purple condom-like dress doesn’t look feminine?! LOL. Don’t worry, Kristen. Because of the spelling of my name, it’s a common misconception. 🙂

  • I must admit, I’d probably hurt myself too but it’d be worth the potential sprains, pains and broken toes to tango in those shoes, Linda! 🙂

  • Ok, I promise this weekend I will paint my toenails and take a picture of my feet in open-toed shoes for you if you promise never to eat pre-chewed gum again!! God, that’s almost as bad putting someone else’s toesies in your mouth. Ewwwwww.

  •  Nope, Dufus. I do know These Shoes Were Made For Walkin’, though. 🙂

  • Not Blues, Mad Dog! You can’t have the blues with elegant footwear. Something Latin would be more appropriate, I think. 🙂

  • Thank you, Lemmikki! I’m glad you like it. I’ll wear them when we dance in Greece. But I think, based on today’s photos, you’ll be the one with the rose…

  • Hon, I was so tempted to send them to you when I read your post! But if I remember correctly, we don’t wear the same size. Damn shame, I think they’d be smashing on you… especially with a red swirly dress 🙂

  • Okay, no tie today.

Mike, you win this round. Guitars over shoes, every time. 🙂

  • Mikewj

    Yeah, baby!

  • Thank you, sweet thing. Ah, you mean my Zombie Stompers! Yeah, another of my favourites 🙂

  • Mikewj

I was young, I was was stupid, I was controlled by hormones and Jan. I’d never do it now. Yuck.

  • Cheryl, seriously, I LOVE it and I absolutely adore you!! Just when I think it’s not possible, you come up with something better. You’ve outdone yourself!!

  •  It is, Cheryl. A virtual smorgasbord 🙂

  • I KNEW there would be shoes!!!!  And THANKS for the reminder that we aren’t even half way through. ARGH!!!  🙂  Will we make it?!?  🙂

  • I know! It’s over-the-moon fantastical.

  • MalisaHargrove

Mike, I can feel the music, but, Nicky, I can feel those shoes too…and they hurt!

  • Liar. You so would.

  • Wow. I really wish you played the keytar. That’s a really good shot, and I really need a good photo of a keytar.  You have to know there’s no simple explanation to be had there, so we’ll just go with because I just do.

  • Mike, my husband plays a Tele.  I’m a bass player myself.  Kind of.  I have one.  I make noise on it.  Brian’s the real musician in this house.
Nicky, squeeeeeeeeeeeee  those are adorable!  **gushes**

  • Fabulous!

  • Seriously, those are truly bad-ass!!
