Mike – City Hall. Symbol of power? Or just power hungry?

If you squint your eyes just right, you can see little plumes of smoke coming out of one of the chimneys. Those are my taxes.

Montreal City Hall at Night

Nicky – In 1991, Kathleen Turner starred in the movie V.I. Warshawski. I saw that movie. It changed my life. I have absolutely no idea anymore what the movie was about. I vaguely remember that Turner was a private detective and that something happened that she had to investigate. But the thing that I remember vividly was the scene where Turner opens up a box and pulls out a pair of sparkling red high heels. She said the words that would forever change me, define me. “There’s something about the right shade of lipstick and a great pair of shoes that just make a gal feel anything is possible.”

Every girl should own a pair of sparkling red high-heeled shoes.

  • Mike, you’ve done a dual take on power: municipal government and electricity. Love it.

Nicky: Work it girl, work it. I have another, less polite, name for those power shoes.

  • Cadeaux

That’s an awfully nice City Hall you have there.  I have no clue if we even have one in our town.  If we do, you can be assured the women who work there don’t even wear any lipstick…let alone the right shade.

  • Mike that is one sweet shot. I couldn’t agree more with your commentary.

Nicky, I’d forgotten they did this. My mental image of Warshawski looked nothing whatsoever like Turner. They should never have made a movie about V.I. As for the shoes, they don’t make ’em big enough for my feet so I leave that fantasy to other women. I do love watching women walk in stilettos. Nothing says hot like a woman teetering on the brink of disaster.

  • Don’t we all?

  •  Lovely shoes. Can I borrow them?

  • Can’t decide which I prefer, the city hall or the red shoes…why not combine the two?

  • Mike: Sad but true.

Nicky: The question is are you wearing the right shade of lipstick? 🙂

  • Mike, that’s a stunning shot. I’m very impressed!

Nicky, when you finally come to Finland, I’ll model my sparkling red FMP’s for you. I guess it’ll be a good test of whether or not they deliver on their promise… 😉 Love the photo, love the shoes, love the fact that you love them.

  • Wonderful photo Mike!  That place looks like an architectural marvel.  Sort of castle-like, isn’t it?

I love your red sparkly shoes!  Only thing I would love more is if you were wearing them!

  • Nicky you are SO right!  Great interpretation!

  • Mike – I vote power hungry.

Nicky – OMYWORD I love those shoes. Powerful indeed!

  • Mikewj

Mike — really cool picture. It looks a little creepy, which government is, I guess.

Nicky — I remember that movie, but I remember Kathleen Turner better for her role in Body Heat, one of the most erotic thrillers ever made. I don’t think she wore any shoes in that movie, but I admit my eyes didn’t get that far down.

  • Mike: That’s an imposing building!

Nicky: Maybe shoes are another Antiquarian thing?  I have always had a ‘thing’ about shoes.  Do red ankle boots count?  I dyed a pair red once 🙂

  • I love both photos! The shot of the government building is really cool. I think I see the creepy person from Nicky’s house in one of the windows. Now the shoes are awesome although they would lead me to a trip to the emergency room for a twisted ankle or broken foot. I am too klutzy for high heels.

  • Mike: Funny (well not funny as in ha ha but more like odd) that you would mention taxes.  I just spent a fun-filled morning with my CPA working on the damage. You mean to tell me, that moving to Canada wouldn’t help my cause? Impressive picture of power, though.

Nicky, Clever, clever, clever…I haven’t read anyone else’s 30 day entries but, I have to think no one has red high heels pictured.  Very creative example for power.  I did see the VI Warshawski movie and don’t remember much about it. I think I liked her character though.

Still waving my pom poms for you two.

  •  No. You cannot. Ever. 🙂

  •  Dufus. I know what that name is and let me tell you, it is not an appropriate name for these shoes. Ok, I’m just gonna say it. These are not Fuck Me Pumps. These are Do NOT Fuck With Me Pumps.

  •  LOL! But do they wear red shoes?

  • Oh, I don’t know, Nicky. I have a pair jut like that and they work every time. Of course the matching handbag may have something to do with it.

  •  Oh, Cheryl. You’ve never seen me walk in high heels. No teetering, no tottering at definitely no falling down! 🙂

  •  You’ve obviously never seen the mayor of Montreal, or you wouldn’t have suggested that.

  •  But of course, Bryan!

  • I haven’t. But if I do, I won’t.

  • Oh, they’ll deliver. I promise! Thanks, Lemmikki. I’m glad you like them. 🙂

  • Fine. I’ll have to deal with it.

  • I was going to wear them, but it’s still a little too cold here. Plus, I didn’t paint my toenails. Can’t wear open-toed shoes with naked toenails!

  •  Thank you Nora! Glad you like 🙂

  • They do kick ass, sweet thing! 🙂

  •  Sigh. I think you missed the point of my post, dude.

  •  Red ankle boots DEFINITELY count! And, yeah, it could very well be an Aquarian thing! 🙂

  • Some shoes are worth the pain, LM. Trust me. 🙂

  • LOL! I think I liked her character too, Cheryl. Thanks for the compliments and for being our biggest fan… in a completely NOT Kathy Bates kind of way, right?

  • Thanks for cheering, Cheryl, but yeah, moving to Canada may help you out, but you’ll have to change your identity 😉

  • I don’t know if it’s the creepy person from Nicky’s house, but our mayor certainly qualifies. The freak.

  • It looks even more imposing at 1am. It was pretty cold when I shot it and actually could not wait to get out of there.

  • In the summer, that part of town is teeming with tourists, but at 1am on a Tuesday night, not so many people out. Made for a creepy photo shoot.

  • Thanks, Ziva 🙂

  • It’s a very beautiful design, but a very ominous place at night.

  • New identity??? I don’t think it would be hard to lose my old one.  Coming up with a great name might be a challenge.

  • I vote power hungry too. But, I love the shoes.

  • You can relax.  Definitely NOT in a Kathy Bates kinda way.  Just here to cheer you on…27 days to go.

  • I have a friend just like you. Now I have 2 women to admire for their incredible calves.

  •  LMAO! Glad you like them Katherine!

  •  I think, where any government is concerned, that’s a safe assumption Kristen! And thanks!! 🙂

  • 🙂

  • It’s definitely the handbag, Dufus!
