There Better Be Coffee…

…in the kitchen.

Or else.

And it better be espresso.

Cause my stomach can’t handle filter coffee anymore.

That last statement was kind of false. It’s not the type of coffee that my stomach dislikes, it’s the amount. I figure if I’m going to have one coffee a day (long gone are the college days of intravenous coffee absorption), may as well make it a good one.

Nicky and Jepeto got me this machine for my birthday a few years back and although it only gets used once a day, it’s become one of the kitchen’s most important components.

Next to the oven, because the oven is pretty important too.

And there’s the fridge, that humming stalwart that keeps everything from rotting. The fridge is pretty key as well.

I guess that places the espresso machine 3rd in terms of popularity. That’s not too bad, you know.

I’m going to go to work now.

espresso in the kitchen

Welcome to day 12 of 30 Days of Writing, a creative writing challenge . We’ve gotta be halfway there by now, but you know what? We’re not. Today’s prompt is “In the kitchen”  and you’ll probably need more than 1 cup of coffee to get through it all.

I’ve had one coffee in my life. I mean, one cup. That’s it. Love the smell, could care less about the rest of it. I don’t know how I get by, frankly.

  • That looks yummy and I love the swirl – nice touch! You can be my barrista anytime! I live for coffee – we have two machines and would have three but I haven’t replaced our lost Espresso machine. Anyway – I think the coffee may be the most important machine. A few years ago after a hurricane when nobody had power in our area, the longest lines were at the convenience store for coffee purchases.

  • It’s funny. I see posts about coffee on other blogs sometimes. Or people saying they need their coffee. On twitter. Or wherever else. Coffee, coffee, coffee.

I once worked in a profession where coffee was like the second coming. The place I worked, for a while, had a contract where they traded advertising for these coffee machines or something. And the coffee, of course.

I hate coffee. The smell. The taste. Everything. My dad was huge into it. My brother, too. Me? Blech.

It does make for good photos though. 🙂

  • I am sorry to say, I had to resort to another cat picture.  Cats seem to be funnier that other animals.  Well, maybe with the exception of Ninja Groundhogs.  Still, this kitchen catagory was a tough one…so I had to make do.  While I can promise I will try not to use cats everyday, I can’t guarantee it.

  • That is one beautiful cup of java.  But far too much cooking involved for me.  😉

  • Right. Two things happened to make that cup.

  • No matter what the theme, you always manage to pull it off. Your creativity knows no bounds!

  • I used to be that way and for a long time I drank a LOT of coffee before realizing that I was addicted to it and wasn’t really enjoying it.These days, if I can’t have the kind I like, I just won’t have any. In my kitchen though, it’s one of the first things that happens in the morning.

  • Tea? Glass of OJ?

I used to “need” coffee in the afternoon before I switched to apples. Much better. Not as comforting, but same effect.

  • What I love about it is that it can be different everytime. The foam is the best part. Sometimes I’ll just make hot chocolate with the frother and….oh yeah 🙂

  • The language of beans?

  • That’s cause the dishwasher is me 🙂

  • It’s usually a very sad moment when the cup is empty.

  • Mmm. Now I want some espresso.

  • It looks delicious!  Now I regret throwing away the Espresso maker I bought at a garage sale for 4 bucks!

  • I’m a water guy. Easy to get. Hahaha. I see more people getting those Kuerig (sp?) things and that seems to help people with coffee fixes! 😀 I’ll stick to hot chocolate when I need something warm to drink!
