My Favorite Food – 30 Days of Photos Day 15

It’s no secret that I have an almost unhealthy obsession with Cheeseburgers. So much so that I’ll often write “Cheeseburger” with a capital ‘C’. At the same time, I can’t say that any one food is an absolute favorite above all other foods since I love food too much to be able to choose. I guess it’s like a parent choosing one child over another, which is probably easier than me choosing sushi over a Cheeseburger.

So here. I give you a hastily taken photo of a Cheeseburger eaten at La Paryse last week with friends (Hi Coco!). I say hastily because I really should have included some of the restaurant in the shot which is a simple classy diner, but instead the photo suffered because I couldn’t wait to dig in to this burger. If it’s your first time, I recommend the Classic. If you go back, try the one with cream cheese. It’s an experience.

Now to burst your bubble: La Paryse is closing at the end of the month after over 30 years in the burger biz. The rumours say that they may re-open somewhere else, but nothing has been confirmed. You have 2 weeks to come here and try it.

Good God, that looks good. Too bad they’re closing, tho. Why does that always happen? My favorite Mexican restaurant closed down years ago and I still miss it. 🙁

Maybe Linda M. will invite me over for dinner. I hear she makes a mean Mexican meal.

  • That looks friggin incredible, a thing of art. I think it should be in the Guggenheim.

I ate original and it was a really nice one! Thanks Mike! Hope you can eat it again somewhere soon! I thought it was much harder to choose one photo of my favorite foods for today’s theme than I imagined.

My husband could live on Cheeseburgers. I just made about seven of them early this afternoon so he can have them the rest of the week since I don’t cook much during the week…can you believe he has no cholesterol problems?? Amazing.

  • I’m a Cheeseburger vegetarian.

Mike, oh Mike, dear Mike, I am so very sorry you’re losing your soul-mate so soon. Maybe they’ll give you their secret recipes and ingredients before they call it quits. I hope it’s just an age-related retirement and not an economy-sucking shutdown.

  • Oh no, what are you going to do!! A burger with cream cheese… nom nom nom!

  • E.coli, shmee.coli. Nothing will stop me eating cheeseburgers.

  • Hah! And you know, the cheeburger cheeburger that opened here last year has since closed too!

  • It’s a nice looking burger to just hang out with.

  • It also happened with this Italian restaurant. The sauces were prepared by the family matriarch, and when she died, she took the skills with her.

  • Or in my stomach. Also acceptable.

  • Wow, sounds like he got lucky in the metabolism department.

  • I don’t think it’s economy related per se, but other rumours suggest that maybe it’s due to a change in rent. We’re hoping they do re-open somewhere else.

  • Barb Paige

omg….. (that was said in a good way)

  • I second that!

  • Over the past 20 years, some of my favorite places have closed. The owner-operated places closed due to increased rents & an inability to compete with box shops opening at the the malls. In other cases, the owners were ready for retirement. I miss my local stationary store, hardware store, and the homemade donut shop. Only donuts I could eat without getting sick.

I hope your burger heaven does reopen…soon.
