QWERTY – 30 Days of Photos Day 18

This was the shit back in 2004. The Palm Treo 610 had a 2.7 inch touch screen, 0.3 megapixel camera, and a full qwerty keyboard. The company I worked for at the time bought it for me and it cost them around $700. It’s not only a reminder of how quickly technology changes, but also a symbol of the hate, paranoia and living hell of working at that company. Life lesson: don’t ever work for a horde of megalomaniacs if you can help it.

Also, it appears to be my birthday today.

  • Happy Damn Birthday, Mike! I’d have baked a cake had I known. My husband and I would have been sure to have kept you mind while we enjoyed it.

That’s one of the nicest Palm’s I’ve ever seen. I’d take that over my phone any day. Do you still use it?

  • Dammit, Mike! Why didn’t you tell me it was your birthday, I would’ve totally got you a stripper. Now I’m going to have to do it myself.

  • Happy Birthday! Hope your day is megalomaniac free. : )

It’s scary how far technology has advanced in such a short time. Your picture is a stark reminder of that fact. What a techno dinosaur.
I think most employers are megalomaniacs but not hordes. Did you mean whores?

Happy Birthday Cheese burger man! I was a Palm/Palm OS testing engineer long ago in Japan. Have a cheesy day!

  • I had that same phone for a time. Back then it was one of the few phones that could support Supra. (the program that allowed realtors to open locked doors with their cell phones) Now that Iphones and Blackberries can support Supra, they don’t have market cornered.

So it’s your birthday, Cheesy Mike??? Have a great day!

Dammit, Mike! Why didn’t you tell me it was your birthday? I would’ve ordered myself a stripper. Now I’m going to have to do it myself.

  • Thanks, Tami. As a guitar player, I choose Chuck Berry 🙂

  • Thanks!

  • Thanks, Cheryl, and no, like all electronics these days, it had no lifespan. The keyboard jammed after about 2 years. Now it’s a conversation piece aka blog fodder.

  • Aw…sucks to be me! Tack for the birthday wishes 🙂

  • Thanks, Linda!

  • Thanks, Dufus, and that may be your best/worst pun yet.

  • I think I meant a combination of both. Horrible place that was.

  • Thanks! It’s kind of too bad a bout Palm. They had a good thing at one time.

  • Thanks, Cheryl! Yeah, Palm had some key technology at the time but definitely doesn’t compare to today’s smartphone.

  • Thanks! And yes, that phone’s been a paperweight for years now.

  • I remember when the 700 series came out and the camera went to 1.3, people were like, whooaaaaa. Crazy.

  • I guess it was to give it that “sporty” look.
