Welcome to Day 18 of 30 Minus 2 Days of Writing, the creative writing challenge that 4 out of 5 bankers agree is the reason for the current global economic crisis. Today’s prompt is Home At Last, and it was CheesyMike’s idea. Don’t forget to link up at the end of this post if you participated in today’s challenge before going broke.
Rhyme For No Reason
I’m going to share a little secret with you. I always failed the poetry portion of English class. That’s not the secret part, though. The secret is, I failed it because I don’t like poetry. Not the kind of poetry we learned in school, anyway. Stodgy, boring, ancient stuff written by old, dead people. Bored me to tears. Whew. What a relief to finally have that off my chest.
Okay, stop thinking about my chest now. Jeez, people. Focus.
So, imagine my surprise when I found myself writing a poem for today’s prompt. A real poem and not a comical rewrite of a classic poem, the way I did in our last 30-day challenge.
An Evening Out
Not so fast
Make it last
Die is cast
Time has passed
Car is gassed
Road is vast
Home at last
As I mentioned, I don’t like poetry. So I’m really not any good at it and I know it and you can be honest and you won’t hurt my feelings. Oh, who am I kidding? Lie like a rug in the comments section or I’ll spend the entire day crying.
Now, go. Click on the links below to find the really talented people who let me browbeat them into participating. Oh, but before you go, can you spare a dollar?
