Texting Makes Our Lives Easier

Day 7 of 30 Minus 2 Days of Writing? Day 7 already?! Man, it feels like we’ve been at this for an afternoon. Where does the time go?

I love texting.

Actually, what I really dig is technology and how certain advances in it make our lives easier. Don’t get me wrong though, there are aspects to technology that are evil too, but we won’t get into that right now.

I don’t see texting as a replacement for live voice conversations on the telephone device thing. I still have those and I believe that they should remain a part of our lives.

Texting is simply another layer of communication and actually helps us to be more productive in some ways by facilitating communication between parties. This is true in certain businesses and projects. Texting actually saves us time since you can send or receive instructions that are to the point, omitting any superfluous dialogue.

For example:

Nicky: Our banner is messed up. Fix it.
Me: Did you mess with it?
Nicky: No. Just fix it.
Me: OK. But how did it get that way?
Nicky: I don’t know. Is it fixed?
Me: Give me a minute!
Nicky: shut up
Me: No you shut up.
Nicky: No you
Me. No you.
Nicky: you
Me: you.
Nicky: you
Me: you!
Nicky: You first.
Me: Make me
Nicky: Don’t think I won’t.
Me: Ask me if I care.
Nicky: Do you care?
Me: It was rhetorical. It’s fixed.
Nicky: Good.
Me. Bye.

And that’s how texting can save you time and help you be more productive in life.

hahahahahaha so did she mess wtih it?

  • Yeah, I can see how that would save you a trip to tell her that in person. Frankly, I don’t think she’s worth the effort. Well done, Mike.

  • U R 2 funny!. Great post, Mike.

  • Why didn’t you include our texting conversation from yesterday?

Shawn: “Are you tryng to force a funny texting conversation from this conversation for tomorrow post?”
    MIke: “What? Huh? Me? Nooooo.

  • I would think that you would know better and that the texting would have gone from “Nicky : Fix it”. to “Mike : It’s fixed.” without the extra stuff in the middle.

    I still hate texting.

  • I love this conversation. 😀 It reminds me of so many of my own conversations, only the most essential gets said.

  • So you left out the superfluous dialogue and got straight to the point. I’d hate to see you guys get off topic.

  • I agree with your points on texting. It gets bashed so much but it doesn’t replace my relationships with my friends it just gives me a quick way to say hi when otherwise I wouldn’t say anything at all.

    No you shut up!

  • HAHAHAHA! Top notch, sir. Loved it.

  • I think I must have really fat finger pads. Texting is hard for me.

  • HA HA HA I smiled through the whole thing!!!

You had me rolling on the floor. Now I can’t get up. How long will it take you to drive from Canada to Texas? It’s your fault. Take responsibility!

    She’s a sickfuck, that Nicky.

  • Hey Mike! I loved this, but be honest – you did omit twenty of the “You!” “You!” cycle to save space, right? Yeah, I thought so. Indigo

  • Probably, but she’d never admit it.

  • Thanks, it’s all about being more efficient after all.

  • Thanks, it happened just like that 😉

  • I considered it but we didn’t get stupid for long enough.

  • You’d think, but there’s always extra stuff in the middle. Always.

  • Oh, it’s not so bad. Come to the dark side. Join us!

  • Exactly. Cutting edge and to the point.

  • I know, we’d never accomplish anything!

  • No you!

And yeah, it has its place 100%, just like other forms of communication do.

  • Thanks, P.J.

  • It was more like 40 exchanges, but yeah, at some point it just doesn’t read very well 🙂

  • More than you know, unless you already know, in which case forget it.

  • With the snowstorm we’re having it could be days. Hold on!

  • Good, then my work is done 🙂

  • I’m actually not great at it myself and need to hunt and peck with one finger.

Hilarious, man. I found that text exchange oddly charming. Also, thank you for coming to the defense of text messaging. It’s a great way to facilitate action between like-minded individuals.
