It Looks Like We’ve Changed Themes (again)

I don’t know what to make of it yet.

It does feel pretty speedy and it is customizable. Our previous theme was also a magazine style theme but this one makes use of featured images and a carousel to cycle through recent posts. I like that aspect except it stretches out the images to make them fit and that bugs me. Maybe there’s a way to deal with that. Hmm…
Also, our banner is now kind of small in relation to the rest of the blog. Or maybe I’m just not used to it. What do you think? Looking at our tiny banner all the way up there kind of reminds me of Krang from Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. You know, tiny head, large body.

Krang is actually the guy IN the suit

Or maybe not.

Anyway, what’s new? I got my first tomato today. They all said I was crazy to try growing tomatoes in Canada, but there it is.

Addendum: This is us trying out the Max Magazine theme by Gazpo.

It had potential, but it just isn’t happening. After doing a bit of research, a lot of the issues can be resolved by tweaking the code, which is fine on one hand if you don’t mind a little coding but…on the other hand, isn’t that the developer’s job? Fine, it’s a free theme. I’ll give it that.

ALSO. One of the reasons we’d decided to change themes was because out previous theme was not very SEO friendly. We wanted to fix some issues with our tags not getting indexed by Google and other search engines. However, after installing the Max Magazine theme, Webmaster Tools reported the following:

“Google has detected that some of your pages may contain hidden text or cloaking, techniques that are outside our Webmaster Guidelines

You know what that means, right? Me neither.  Seriously though, my assumption is that the The Max Magazine theme is poorly coded and we’re not going to waste any time trying to figure it out. So it’s on the to the next theme!

Thanks for the helpful comments everyone.
