30 Days of Photos IV: Biblical

Yep. Day 16 of MikeWJ and Ziva‘s eternal/infernal 30 day photography challenge. Today’s theme is Biblical and I spent all morning trying to figure out what to post. I even scoured the web for biblical symbols before opening the fridge for a snack and finding just what I needed: an olive. Yes, food comes to the rescue once again. I mean, doesn’t half the bible revolve around food anyway? Just look at Noah’s Ark. After 40 days and 40 nights stuck on that boat, it was this close to becoming Noah’s BBQ. Mmm…giraffe.

So there you go. Olives are a biblical symbol of peace and you can find references to olive oil all over the bible. Here’s an olive of biblical proportions, a manzanilla one even:

Do you think they had manzanilla olives in biblical times?

Now head on over to Ziva‘s, link up, and see how everyone else interpreted today’s theme.

I feel like it’s staring at me. I don’t think I could eat it. I’m actually a little frightened now.

  • I heard Noah originally had two unicorns on that ark, but then he got hungry… Thank god he didn’t go for the cats, huh?

That’s an awesome photo, Mike. The perspective is amazing, and the shadow really cool. It’s just ever so slightly out of focus, but apart from that, it’s perfect. I’m very impressed by your skills with the new camera. 🙂

I couldn’t work out what that was at first, but it’s a lovely photo. I particularly like the shadows. And you’re right; very Biblical things, olives!

  • What the Hell??? I can say that as it is Biblical…why did you not use one of the verses about CHEESE???

What about Job 10:10..??? You guys are supposed to be all about cheese…no olives…just cheese.

Hast thou not poured me out as milk, and curdled me like cheese?

  • LOVE the photo… almost looks like a weird, giant eyeball. In fact, I was so inspired by your photo, I had olives for dinner. (Well, an omelet with olives and pepper jack cheese.) Because it’s a biblical day and all…

  • That is indeed a beautiful photo!!!! I think Jesus ate olives… right?

  • Yeah, but they had them all the time so he was probably sick of them.

    “Olives again???”

  • Oh good. I’ve never heard of anyone having olives as a main dish 😉

  • What?? I did not know about that verse. This is a game changer 😉

  • Olives’ll do that 🙂

  • Yep. Good to see you, Linda 🙂

  • She was in charge of stuffing them.

  • Thank you:)

  • They pull no punches. Gotta give ’em that 🙂

  • Yep. They are quite symbolic 🙂

I actually adore your photo! You are whoopin’ up on us with that new camera of yours! I love the way you stretched that biblical reference, but it worked!

Now, I’m going to have a martini. Thanks for the temptation, Mike!

  • Food is kinda inspirational, no?

  • Thank you, you can really feel its olive-y goodness 🙂

  • Come on, it just wants to be friends.

  • All I did was leave food out on the counter. Seriously. The camera did the rest 🙂

  • My head was thinking all biblical and that hadn’t even crossed my mind. Now that you mention it though, I think I have some vermouth lying around.
