30 Days of Photos IV: Poison

Today is Day 25 of MikeWJ and Ziva‘s 30 day photo challenge and the prompt is Poison.

Sometimes roads are abandoned and although the area might be re-purposed one day, the land on which a road was built will never return to its natural state. The land has essentially been poisoned and now only weeds and scraggly things persist.

Well, that felt like a stretch. But not really when you think about it. Now head on over to Ziva‘s, link up, and see how everyone else interpreted today’s theme.

Unfortunately, we humans do an excellent job of poisoning Mother Earth. I did think of the movie, WALL-E, though.

  • that makes me so sad.

  • Wow! What was there before?

  • Land poisoned by road. Really? I feel like I should threaten you with the whip or something. 😀

  • Interesting approach today, Mike. We have roads like that here, too and they’re visual pollution or as you say they’ve been poisoned. I don’t know if this was last minute or not but it’s clever.

  • Well, I’ll give you this, it’s original. And not booze. I appreciate that more than you’ll ever know.

  • I love that… Reminds me of the walking dead!

  • Jay of The Depp Effect

It’s very sad the way we poison and pollute. I don’t think tarmac is that bad, being a fairly natural product, but it certainly does the same job as a poison, as you say.

  • Jackal

    Thought provoking

Excuse me for a moment while I wipe the tears from my eyes.

Are you saying you hated my photo for today?

  • Of course not. Yours was the ONE photo of booze that I really enjoyed. The rest were soulless but by including your arm, yours came to life. I ignored the fact that it looked like it was photoshopped.

  • My driveway poisoned my yard. Only scraggly weeds growing up through it. *sigh*

  • Poisoned land. Clever and unfortunate for nature.

  • Look like you have come to the end of the road Mike.

  • Very clever tie in to the prompt. Sad thought about land being poisoned. Very desolate looking.

  • That is sad. But weeds grow like uh, er weeds and one day the pavement won’t be so dark and gloomy. Incidentally, we’ve got lots of weeds. My husband doesn’t think they’re bad cause they’re green.

  • Ha, we’re not quite there yet, but we may be one day.

  • It kinda sucks, but there are parks nearby. Maybe. Hmm…now I’m not sure. :p

  • Probably some land, but that was like 50 years before.

  • Yes yes. Threaten away. I keep almost breaking the rules 😉

  • Thanks, although everything has been last minute for the last 26 days or so.

  • Why do I feel like I’ve been drinking then? Right. This never ending challenge.

  • I was kinda aiming for cheery desolation.

  • Yep, it will degrade fairly well. Tarmac is the foreign body that disrupts its host, in so many words.

  • Then my work is done 🙂

  • Here. Have a Kleenex. You’re suddenly looking like Iron Eyed Cody, the crying Indian.

  • That’s what happens. Can’t do much about it, really.

  • The world needs roads. What can you do?

  • Yep. Destination: Blue Bonnets.

  • It’s even worse when you see all the ugly box stores. It’s horrifying 😉

  • Yep, weeds are green but they just happen to be ugly and get no respect from us.

  • Now that you mention it, I do recognize the building in the top corner.
