30 Days of Photos IV: Texture

Today is Day 8 of MikeWJ and Ziva‘s 30 Days of Photographs IV. Today’s theme is Texture. Marjo’s tongue feels like sandpaper. Oddly enough, so does mine.

Now head on over to Ziva‘s, link up, and see how everyone else interpreted today’s theme.

  • I guess a cat lover would say purr-fect. But that would leave meowt.

    Holy Non-Cheesy Kitty Breath, Cheeseman!

My cat loves to lick. Sandpaper indeed. Ouch.

  • Is Marjo your new girlfriend? Watch out for those teeth.

  • Don’t look now but Marjo needs a good teeth-cleaning before they need to be pulled and you’re stuck pureeing food until the end of time.

Completely unrelated to my unsolicited advice, I love the feel of a cat’s tongue licking my hand. There really is nothing quite like it. Better than a dog’s lick any day of the week.

  • There’s (almost) nothing worse than a drooling, slobbering dog.

Re: teeth cleaning. Marjo isn’t actually mine, but a regular visitor, so whoever’s been giving her her annual shave should also pay for that teeth cleaning 😉

  • New? We’ve been seeing each other for close to 4 years, on and off.

  • It’s both an interesting and disgusting feeling, all at once, no?

  • You just had to litter this space with an anti cat comment, huh?

  • You wind for cat photo of the day. While I have you do I spy tooth decay?

  • OK, what did you do to get Marjo to let you snap a picture of her (or is that a him) mouth like that? As far as the tongue…cat’s tongues are like sandpaper.

  • Oh my word! That’s some photograph!

  • Perhaps I could use that tongue to help me sand down the mud on my drywall. (If I ever get around to getting the drywall put up.)

  • Yuk! Definitely texture but, now i feel like a feline dentist.

  • Oh my god, that’s a brilliant photo. 😀 Disgusting, but awesome. I love it. It reminds me of Yoda, he always tries to lick my face, disgusting cat that he is.

  • GET OUT!!!

    Best photo of the day!

  • ReformingGeek

That’s right. I guess we taste good….probably salty!

  • There’s a good chance you do. As far as I know, she’s the community cat and is probably not visiting the cat dentist very often.

  • I got lucky to be honest. I had the camera out and got about 5 shots of her yawning. This one was the peak yawn, clearly 🙂

  • It’s gross, but it works 🙂

  • I just got the weirdest vision of you using the cat as a sander.

  • Hey, it’s never too late for a career change 🙂

  • Hahaha! Cats have to be good for something.

  • I cannot BELIEVE you got that shot!!!!! When I first saw the subject “texture” I actually thought about a cat tongue, but never even considered it because HEY, that would be FREAKING IMPOSSIBLE! But you got the impossible!!!!!!! AMAZING!

  • OK, I keep going back to the picture. How in the world did you do that? Is that “mid-meow?”

  • mikewjattoomanymornings

That’s horrible, even disgusting. But I agree with Ziva: It’s brilliant. Far and away the most-compelling photo of the day, perhaps of the challenge so far. Really nice work, CheesyMike.

  • Nope, peak yawn. She was extra sleepy so I just had to wait a couple of
minutes for the shot. It was mostly dumb luck 🙂

  • Thank you 🙂

  • Isn’t it supposed to be an honor to be licked by a cat? I think it means that they accept you and will allow you to serve them. Forever 🙂

  • Thanks, Mike. Sometimes you just have no choice but to go for the gross out.

  • Jackal

    Brilliant !! but no cheese?

  • It’s like that line from Monty Python’s Cheese Shop: “Oh, the cat’s eaten it…”

  • MalisaHargrove

This may be the most intriguing photo I have seen in all the seasons of 30 Days of Photography. How in the heck did you take the photo? I strangely love it.
