Photo Challenges

YAY! Today is the LAST DAY of the 30 Days of Photographs IV challenge (aka Bob) hosted by Ziva and MikeWJ and the prompt is Cheese.

Oh wait, that’s wrong. Just like today’s prompt.

Let’s try that again. Today is Day 13 of the 30 Days of Photographs IV challenge (aka Bob) and the prompt is Wrong.

I had quite a few ideas for this prompt but in the end, I went with the most wrong thing in existence. And I’d like to give a little shout-out to my dear friend Margaret, whom I adore even though she’s going to think this is a photo of  the rightest thing known to mankind.

kraft dinner, kraft mac n cheese, macaroni and cheese, kd

We have very strict false advertising laws in Canada. Notice how it doesn’t say macaroni and cheese anywhere?

Margaret looks totally normal on the outside, despite her love of the oh-so-wrong, supposedly cheesy orange powder hermetically sealed in an envelope (not to mention her disdain for shopping). And it does no good to tell her it’s not cheese, trust me. Lucky for her, she’s adorable and hysterically funny.

To see who else has participated, go visit Ziva’s blog. For some reason, I’m expecting to see a picture of real cheese when I get there.

  • Don’t do that! I thought this challenge had finally sent me over the edge and I’d lost several days in the process.

That doesn’t even look like cheese. It looks like macaroni in tomato sauce, like baked beans sauce.

  • When I lived at home, my mom would ask, why am I adding cheese to the Kraft Dinner And I would respond, because there’s none in the box.

  • Oh I HATE that cheesy orange powder hermetically sealed in an envelope – SO TOTALLY WRONG! And disgusting!

  • Jay of The Depp Effect

Oh, good grief. That is most definitely wrong!!

I found some ‘cheese’ in the supermarket recently. I bought it for the dogs (cheap cheese is very good pill popping material because it moulds around the pills and the dogs love it), and then noticed that NOWHERE on the packaging does it actually say it is cheese. Therefore, it cannot BE cheese. I later learned that there is something they call in the food industry ‘cheese type food product’ or something.

I agree with you that concept of the Kraft macaroni and cheese dinner is wrong. But damn, they taste good. I wish I had one now, in fact.

  • Tami Von Zalez

I lurvs the mac and cheese, esp. the Kraft packaged kind. I think it is my white bread upbringing ~

  • I’m with you. This is not real cheese.

  • We used to eat this – back when it was .50 a box and we used whole or 2% milk. Then we switched to skim and I wondered why I didn’t like it anymore. That’s when I created my own scratch recipe and never looked back. Hubby still asked about the boxed stuff occasionally. I got a box especially for him, then remembered right before I was going to make it, about the skim milk. It’s still in the box!

  • Oh, man, you’ve just joined #teamlame. That’s not food or cheese, or macaroni. It is wrong, though.

  • ReformingGeek

Ooh, definitely wrong. It’s the not-cheese cheesy food stuff.

    Nice job.

  • I wonder if what’s sold in the US doesn’t contain any cheese either? It sucked when it did so I can’t imagine taking the cheese out improved it. And by the way, EWWWWWWWWWWWWW.

  • That is the anti cheese. Well, at least it’ll survive a nuclear armageddon. But it’ll suck if there’s nothing to cook it with.

  • You and your silly Canadian laws. Would it help if they simply called it “Little Floppy Orange Tidbits” on the boxes here in the U.S.? You could call it dog poo – I’d still eat it. 🙂

  • My mother made “Macaroni and Cheddar” out of the box..not even Kraft!! With elbow noodles. Now THAT’S wrong. And I’d swear it was 4 for a dollar when on sale. Also? Are you sitting down? She’d make it with powdered milk. GACK!

  • MalisaHargrove

I agree, It’s disgusting, but I sure fed it to my boys when they were growing up. They turned out okay except for that orange glow around their heads.

  • Yuck yuck yuck. This is even worse than real cheese! Which makes it perfect for the prompt. 😀

  • I couldn’t agree more…..Margaret is so funny. I didn’t realize prior to your post that Margaret likes fake orange goo over her macaroni. That/s OK, maybe Kraft Dinner has ingredients that make people fun and likable. Maybe I should go out and buy some. (Margaret…you wouldn’t really eat it if it was called dog poo, would you????)

  • Fake cheese is wrong.

  • I remember when that was ALL my middle won would eat. That stuff is nasty! Although I DID enjoy it drunk in college!

  • Oh good lord, I feel faint now. How did you survive? 🙂

  • Okay, it may be wrong of me, but every once in awhile I get a craving for Kraft dinner. So shoot me!

  • Jackal

    Totally wrong!!

  • Wrong but oh so right!
